A screen adaptation of B. Balter’s novel of the same name about friendship of boys living at the seaside, their first love, and the meaning of life, in which tomorrow there will be a war, but they are not aware of that.

The film is based on the play of the same name by A.Arbuzov. An encounter of Rodion, the chief doctor of a sanatorium, and his patient Lidia begins with a conflict: the woman has managed to violate sanatorium regulations during her first days there. However, soon the acquaintance of the two elderly people turns into friendship and then into mutual sympathy...

Every morning the young talented inventor Sergey Vishnyakov woke up thinking that today he would certainly meet the girl of his dreams. In his fantasies he had long ago drawn her image. He constantly imagined her in the crowd of passersby. Sergey runs after her, but the vision vanishes... However, in the pursuit of a nonexistent ideal he almost missed his happiness, which, as it turns out, is much closer than it seems...
